New playground to come to Jonesboro park

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro park will get some new playground equipment thanks to grant money received by the city.

City leaders met with West End residents at City Water and Light Park on Monday.

Mayor Perrin and Parks and Recreation Director Wixson Huffstetler showed off renderings of playground equipment for the park.

CWL Park Chairman Julie Dow said the park is already well used and playground equipment will make it that much better.

"There are lots of kids that stop by and play baseball and little league teams that come out here and practice and my kids, when they walk to kindergarten, they stop by here on the way to and from kindergarten. So, this is a good park," said Dow.

Money for the park was made available through the Community Development Block Grant. Mayor Perrin said $50,000 in grant money was appropriated for the equipment.
