FAYETTEVILLE (ArkansasRazorbacks.com) - As training games continue for the 2014 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, Arkansas right-handed pitcher Trey Killian is slated to start Wednesday against the Wilson Tobs.
Killian will make his USA Baseball debut as the Collegiate National Team (CNT) is in the midst of its Red, White and Blue Tour where it will play seven games in as many days. The CNT will take on the Wilson Tobs, a member of the Coast Plains League, Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT in Wilson, N.C. at Fleming Stadium.
"My mentality is just to go out there and do what I have done all year," said Killian. "I can't really worry about if I make the team or not, I've just got to do my best every time out and hopefully it is enough for the guys selecting the team."
The Mountain Home, Ark., native finished his sophomore year with a 2.30 earned run average in 94.0 innings of work. He allowed one earned run or less in seven of his 14 starts and tossed four complete games on the year. He recorded a career-high nine strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work at Missouri on May 15, and worked 9.1 innings in two playoff appearances, allowing just two earned runs, while striking out five.
"Having Coach Van Horn out here with me is just a comfort thing. I know I have someone I can trust and share things with which is always nice through this process."
Killian is currently one of 33 players listed on the official Collegiate National Team roster, with the final 24-man roster being selected later this month.
