CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Sagrada Familia, a small Spanish Catholic Church, was robbed last Wednesday, June 18.

Thieves stole thousands of dollars in equipment, food, donations, and even the historic chalice.

The chalice was a gift to Father Bob Reidy, from his parents, many years ago.

"It has no monetary value, but for me, it meant so much because my parents gave it to me and they are deceased," Reidy said.

Father Reidy says he thinks at least one of the robbers may have attended mass and decided to stay after and commit the crime.

In addition, the crooks took a gallon of wine meant for communion, money from the donation boxes, and 25 dozen eggs meant to help feed those in need.

One parishioner gave Father Reidy some insight, "He said when he was young, the thieves would not bother old people or churches, and he said look how times have changed."

Father Reidy is offering a reward for the return of his chalice, no questions asked.
