MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) – A local sheriff’s office is warning residents to look out for a scam delivered to their mailbox.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office stated Monday they are aware of a scam involving a letter from “Media Opportunities Direct, Inc.” The return address is from the Netherlands.

The letter claims to be notification of very large cash prizes for the recipient. However, in order to claim the prize, a “Processing Fee” must be sent within a week to the company.

The sheriff’s office states the letter has been identified as a scam and hoax. Those who receive the letter are urged not to respond or reply.
