(RNN) – The U.S. Men’s team may have lost 2-1 to Belgium in the Round of 16 on Tuesday, but that didn’t nullify the amazing performance of goalie Tim Howard in the match.

Howard had a FIFA World Cup-record 16 saves during the competition, and turned the American futbol star into a worldwide trending topic on Twitter with the hashtag #ThingsTimHowardCouldSave.

The U.S. may be out of the World Cup, defying naysayers who scoffed at them getting out of the dreaded “Group of Death,” but at least Twitter is giving them life after loss.

Other notable things that Tim Howard could save, according to Twitter, include Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, Tim Tebow's career, money on your car insurance, MySpace, and the always popular on Twitter - LeBron James' hairline. The things people will say for retweets.
