Troopers seize 620 Xanax, second Findlay bust in a week

FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

What started as a routine traffic stop for a faulty tail light turned into a much bigger investigation for Ohio State troopers in Findlay.

Keisha Sullivan, 30, from Columbus, is now in jail after OSHP found 620 Xanax pills and more than $3,000 in her car when they pulled her over on Sunday. Troopers say the pills weren't just for selling, though.

"It's been determined that the driver has an addiction to prescription medication," said Sgt. Matthew Dyer.

This bust was the second in the last week on the same stretch of I-75. Last Friday, troopers stopped a car for a similar reason, and with similar results.

"We observed a vehicle traveling with no headlights on and initiated a traffic stop," Sgt. Dyer explained.

That stop turned up $7,500 worth of Oxycodone pills. The driver and passenger are now facing drug possession charges.

Troopers say Findlay does not appear to be a final stop for the narcotics, but with I-75 so close, more drugs are passing through the city.

Over the past five years, prescription pills have become one of the top drugs trafficked through the county, according to Sgt. Dyer. He says troopers have learned to watch for telltale signs during traffic stops.

"One may tell us what they want us to hear, and the other may tell us the truth," he said.

And typically, traffickers are driving in rental cars.

Dyers says there's a way you can help cut down on the amount of drugs making it into your city: Keep an eye out for suspicious behavior from drivers, such as lights out or missing plates. If you see anything that seems off, send a tip through the "Safer Ohio" app, which is free to download to your phone.
