SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Two people have been arrested and face several charges after a routine eviction led to the discovery of a meth lab.

The Chatham County Sheriff's Office says one of their deputies was completing an eviction order on July 2 at an apartment complex on White Bluff Road, when something caught his eye.

The deputy reported seeing coffee filters with a pinkish substance on them that sent up red flags. Members of the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team then responded and located all of the elements to make a full blown meth lab inside of the apartment.

The occupants, Raymond McKinney, 27, and Sabrina Rudolph, 23, were arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Chatham County Narcotic officials said the vapors and gases coming from a lab like this can cause explosions and the fumes that people breathe in can threaten people's health.

People around the area had no idea and were nervous about the discovery.

"I am actually really surprised," said a neighbor that lives at Colonial Village. "I didn't even hear, I just can't believe this happened here. This area is very quiet. Everybody is friendly and there is no noise. I really think it's a nice neighborhood."

The other issue with this lab is that generally, meth producers often dump their chemicals and waste with no regards to safety or sanitation, so it may get in creeks and rivers or animals may get a hold of it.
