WEST PLAINS, MO (KAIT) – A Region 8 man was seriously injured when his truck got stuck on a railroad track and was struck by a train.
Sgt. S.L. Nelson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the collision happened at 10 p.m. Monday on County Road 1610, two miles north of West Plains.
Edward J. Stone, 52, of West Plains was eastbound when his 1985 Ford Ranger ran off the road at a railroad grade crossing.
Nelson reported Stone's truck got stuck on the tracks and was struck by a BNSF freight train.
Before Stone was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center in serious condition, he was cited with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
