JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Storm debris around Jonesboro has become an eyesore after sitting on the curb for over a month now.

Crews have been busy around the city to get the limbs picked up, but it has proven to be a bit of a challenge.

Jonesboro Operations Officer LM Duncan says that on Wednesday at 2 PM the city will be taking bids for contractors to come in and handle the clean up effort and then at 4 PM they will have a meeting at city hall to settle on the bid.

Sanitation Director for Jonesboro, Donny Gibson said that his crews have been working hard to clear debris this past month and will be happy to see the contractors come in.

Duncan said that with the contractors coming in it allows the work to get done quicker and they expect it done in the next two months.

Duncan said, "In the bid specs it says they have to be cleaned up within 45 days."

The city is thinking that they will receive around 10 to 15 bids tomorrow, which will help keep the price down.

The city says they have money put aside for something like this and are prepared to handle it.

Duncan said, "It won't cost the tax payers anything, we've got a reserve build-up just for things like this."

Duncan said the debris will be hauled out to land that was approved to have the debris burned and the ashes will be taken to the landfill.
