DHS: No disciplinary action will be taken against human development center

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – No disciplinary action will be taken against employees of the Jonesboro Human Development Center after a woman walked away from the facility Sunday morning, according to the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Amy Webb told Region 8 News that Vernetta Adams did not require constant supervision before she walked away from the facility this weekend. Adams was found safe at a McDonalds restaurant in North Little Rock on Monday.

Webb said, prior to the incident, no caregiver was assigned to supervise Adams. Adams is now under constant supervision, according to Webb.

When Adams went missing, the center said she could become a danger to herself and others if she was unable to take her medication.

DHS is investigating how Adams ended up in North Little Rock.
