JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-The Miracle League of Jonesboro is hosting "Gigging for a Miracle" Friday night at the Southside Softball Complex in Jonesboro.

Region 8’s Courtney Brown prepared by learning how to gig a frog from Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center’s, Shawn Merrell.

Merrell discussed different types of equipment while showing how to use them.

“You can use a gig, a bow and arrow or even your hands,” said Merrell.

In order to frog gig a person must have a valid Arkansas fishing license. Gigging can be done on a boat or a county road. All state or federally maintained roads are prohibited.

Onsite registration begins at 5pm Friday. The tournament consists of three man teams and is $25.00 per person. All proceeds will go towards construction of The Miracle League ball field and playground.

A catfish dinner will be served by John 3:16 Ministries for $10 a plate at 5:30pm. Dinner is open to the public.

The tournament will continue at 9am Saturday morning for a weigh-in. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and to the largest frog captured.
