Multiple suspects due in court on Monday

CRAIGHEAD/POINSETT COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – Several people will appear in court Monday on various charges, including a man charged in the shooting death of a woman on New Year’s Eve and a man charged with sexual assault.

Carlos Coronado, 28, is accused of shooting and killing Karrie Deshae Shadwick while celebrating the new year. According to police, witnesses told them that Coronado pointed a loaded 9 mm handgun at Shadwick. Coronado told police he thought the gun was unloaded.

In an unrelated case, Ashley Hillis, of Trumann, will appear in court Monday on charges of permitting child abuse. Trumann Police Lieutenant Lenny Becker said Hillis’ husband, John, sexually assault a child. Ashley Hillis was charged for allowing the incidents to happen, according to Becker.

Another case to be heard on Monday is that of Kevin Maget, 23, of Jonesboro. Maget is charged with sexual assault of a 12-year-old-girl. According to the police report, the girl told police that Maget got into her bed and began touching her.
