JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Worship Center hosted its first "Man Up of Northeast Arkansas" event.

Men from different religious denominations learned how to become better leaders through discipleship and worship.

"Making men better for Christ," said Michael Huskey, the event's creator. "Whenever we do that we're going to be better for our families, our kids, our community and everything else."

Huskey hopes to see discipleship break out across the city. He encourages churches that do not have a discipleship program to get one and those that do to start more.

"Bringing men from different backgrounds together, understanding that we are all part of the body of Christ and doing whatever we can do our best for Jesus Christ," Huskey said.

The event included live music, breakout sessions and speakers from the Jonesboro community.

The center's pastor hopes to make this a monthly event.

"There's good ideas and there's God ideas," Pastor Scot Loyd said. "I think this is a God idea. Unfortunately in our society, there's lots of people that are mistreated by men. So if we can get men to improve their lives around the gospel of Jesus Christ, than everything in society is going to improve."

If anyone is interested in attending the next "Man Up of Northeast Arkansas" event contact Huskey at manupnea@gmail.com or Pastor Loyd at (870) 932-2316.
