Lawmaker mistakes school kids for migrants

ORACLE, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A local state lawmaker and congressional candidate is back pedaling after a case of mistaken identity during Tuesday's protests over plans to house immigrant children at an Oracle Boys Ranch.

Republican State Represenative Adam Kwasman was with protestors yesterday when he saw a yellow school bus bringing what he thought were immigrant children for the Sycamore Canyon Academy.

He tweeted from the scene, "Bus coming in. This is not compassion. This is the abrogation of the rule of law." He included a photo of the back of a yellow school bus.

But those weren't migrant children on the bus; they were Marana school district kids on their way to a nearby YMCA camp.

Kwasman later deleted the tweet and posted a new one apologizing for the confusion.
