Springfield mother charged with DUI with 2-year-old, police release 911 call

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A Springfield mother is accused of driving drunk with her young child in the car. 

Workers at a Clinton, CT, McDonalds called police shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday to say a customer at the drive-through window appeared to be drunk. 

Responding officers arrested Michelle Dion of Mystic Street in Springfield for operating under the influence. 

She also faces a charge of risk of injury to a minor for having her 2-year-old toddler in the car.

The child was taken into protective custody and brought to the Clinton police station before a family member came to take custody. 

The Department of Children and Families is conducting an investigation into the incident. 

Dion is being held on $1,000 bond and will be arraigned Thursday in Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown, CT.
