Clay Co. town gets advice on downtown revitalization
RECTOR, AR (KAIT) - New efforts are underway to revitalize downtown Rector.

Members of the city met with the Main Street Arkansas committee Thursday to discuss ways to improve downtown.

The committee provided training on the four-point approach to revitalization. The discussion included organization, design, economy and how to promote Rector. Irby Funeral Director, Cheri Boyd, hopes the initiative will bring a more vibrant downtown.

“If we make our town look better people are going to be more willing to come back,” said Boyd. “If we have stores here and businesses for them than there is a reason to come to Rector.”

The Rector native believes building a new and redesigned downtown is possible as long as there is a group effort.

“We have some very good leaders in this town that are willing to try,” said Boyd. “We also have a lot of people who are willing to say if you need me, tell me what to do.”

Boyd told Region 8 News building a better downtown will help bring businesses that will hopefully help out the local economy.
