Police: SEMO man charged with rape after stealing beer

KENNETT, MO  (KAIT) – A Kennett man was arrested on charges of statutory rape and shoplifting after he was caught stealing beer from a local Walmart, according to Kennett Police.

Kennett Police Lt. Tim Trowbridge said Damon J. Lemons, of Kennett, was arrested just before 4:00 Sunday afternoon. According to Trowbridge, Lemons stole beer from the Kennett Walmart. When he was taken into custody, officers learned Lemons was wanted for a 2013 rape.

Trowbridge said Lemons is accused of raping an 11-year-old-girl who was known to him. A warrant for Lemons’ arrest was put out on March 21, 2013.

Judge John Spielman ordered Lemons to be held on a $75,000 cash only bond. Lemons is currently housed at the Dunklin County Justice Center.
