BOSTON (WHDH/CNN) –A JetBlue pilot from Florida was among several people arrested in a drug bust in Boston.
The arrest created shock throughout the flying public after learning of the pilot’s untimely arrest for allegedly buying heroin on Boston Commons on July 20.
John Manwaring, 42, lives just north of Orlando, FL, and faced a Boston judge on Monday.
JetBlue says it’s cooperating with Boston police, and a spokesman released a statement, saying “The crew member in question was removed from duty last night (Sunday) pending the outcome of the investigation.”
"You're flying a plane full of many passengers. You shouldn't be in a compromising position, ever," concerned flyer Katherine Berrisford said.
Boston police said Manwaring was with 31-year-old Jennifer Robinson, a homeless woman who has a history of arrests for both drugs and prostitution.
According to the police report, Robinson went on a rant, claiming over and over again that she wasn't buying drugs for herself, she was buying them for the JetBlue pilot.
Boston police also arrested four alleged drug dealers, and they said they found heroin in Manwaring’s pocket. Manwaring insisted that because he’s a pilot, he can’t use heroin or any type of drug, and he claimed he was “just trying to get laid.”
