There's a lot of talk across the state of Arkansas about raising the minimum wage.
A group called Give Arkansas a Raise Now is collecting signatures to get their proposed act on the November ballot. Their proposal would raise the state's minimum wage from $6.25 an hour to $8.50 an hour by the year 2017.
The group has fallen short of the little over 60,000 signatures needed and now has until August 18th to propose more petitions. If it makes it to the November ballot, the voters have a big decision. Imagine being in the Region 8 workforce as a minimum wage worker trying to make ends meet. Or on the other side, try walking in the shoes of a small business trying to keep expenses down so that you can stay in business.
