Only 4 undocumented minors remain at Nogales processing center

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Only four minors remain at the Nogales Processing Center, according to reports from officials with Customs and Border Protection.

They are being held there by CBP, who released the following statement on July 22, 'The Nogales Processing Center remains an operational resource for Tucson Sector and can be used to assist in processing individuals apprehended in other sectors as operational demands require.

Those remaining behind in Nogales were part of a flood of kids caught crossing illegally into Texas from various countries in Central America.

Numbers were already winding down, with fewer minors being taken to other cities to be housed and processed as part of this immigration crisis.

An increase in capacity in the McAllen, Texas processing Rio Grande Valley center is one of the reasons Nogales will no longer be a processing site for undocumented minors.
