GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – The USDA teamed up with representatives from a number of different organizations to give Region 8 farmers the latest information and options.
Consultants, land owners and farmers gathered together for a "field day" Tuesday. Groups traveled to different agricultural sites to discuss a variety of vital topics for farmers.
"We've talked about crop production and what kind of varieties would be best used locally," said District Conservationist Adam Eades. "Also, [we talked about] saving money on irrigation and conserving water."
Greene County Extension Agent Allen Davis said it's important farmers stay informed about these options.
"I think it's very important that they know that these techniques and these educational information is out there where they can utilize it," said Davis.
Davis also said they've proven farmers can save around 25% on irrigation costs and water by utilizing faucet and serge valves.
Eades said they try to hold these field days annually.
