Outages continue after widespread storms

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Severe thunderstorms packing heavy rain, dangerous lightning and gusty winds made their way through Region 8 Wednesday. 

The clean up began late in the afternoon and continues into Thursday.   

Many areas reported power outages, trees toppled, and signs blown out.

According to the Entergy Arkansas Inc. outage map, Jackson and White County have over 1,000 customers without power. Surrounding areas are experiencing varying outages.

The power could return in some areas around noon Thursday, according to the map.

    Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce says his office has filed charges against a Pocahontas man accused of beating another man with a bat. The victim later died from his injuries.
