WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A tourist organization in Wilmington is promoting the Port City to Latin America.

According to Yndiana Montes, hundreds of her family and friends have visited from her home in Venezuela but others are not aware of the Wilmington area and the attractions.

"They love the beaches and are enchanted with the city" said Montes, "Unfortunately, not many people know about Wilmington from Latin American and the United States," Montes said.

Montes used her background in tourism to start Visite Wilmington, a tourism organization promoting the Port City.

"We bring the Hispanic affluence here to Wilmington" said Montes.

Montes also posts press releases and articles on social media about events in our area. She translates the posts to Spanish and Portuguese so they are accessible to Spanish-speakers from all over the world.
