Pocahontas woman turns 107

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT)- It was a special day for Marie Davis. She celebrated her 107th birthday with family and friends at the Stonebridge Nursing Home.

Davis has lived through the Great Depression, two World Wars and 19 U.S. Presidents. She grew up in Walnut Ridge and finished high school in 1925.

"My dad wasn't’t able to send me to college but he was able to send me to business school," Davis said.

Soon after business school, Davis got married. She said it was one of the best moments of her life.

"I’ve just had a wonderful life, I don’t think I could do any better than what I’ve done," she said.

Davis had surprise visits from family and friends all over the country. In her 107 years, Davis said she has seen so many changes in the world.

"It’s upside down from what it was then, my husband passed away in 1977 and even since then he would be so surprised at the change in Pocahontas," she said.

Davis stresses the importance of good health and taking care of your body. She participates in an exercise class 2 to 3 times a week at the nursing home.

"Live a good clean life and to take care of their bodies," she said.
