JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro Police arrested 18-year-old Landon Shawn Morris after he attempted to lure two boys into his car.

According to the affidavit, police responded to two separate incidents on July 22nd.  Morris told investigators that he approached the children and posed as an officer. He also told police he was sexually attracted to them.

Morris is charged with attempted kidnapping, attempted rape and criminal impersonation.

The first victim was a 15-year-old boy who told officers Morris drove up next to him on Gee Street asking him for directions. Morris kept asking the boy to get into the car with him. The young boy managed to run away and contacted Jonesboro Police.

The second victim, an 11-year-old boy said that Morris drove up to the playground on Alpine, told him he was a cop and asked him to get into the car. He refused and also managed to get away to contact police.

Sgt. Doug Formon said the descriptions given by both boys helped in Morris's arrest.

“Both of them were able to get a good description of the car and a good description of the suspect, especially the first one who got the tattoo description” said Formon.

According to Jonesboro Police, there have been 8 incidents reported since January 2009, where the suspect claimed to be a police officer.
