JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man was arrested for stealing from his workplace.
Jonesboro Police Officer Scott Byrd was dispatched to Sears at about 1:30 Monday afternoon. The loss prevention associate for the store told Officer Byrd that over the last few weeks they had watched an employee, Dominique Smith, steal about $1,500 cash from the register.
Sears had also begun an internal investigation and gathered video evidence of Smith stealing out of the registers.
According to the police report, Smith admitted to Officer Byrd that he stole the money. He was then arrested and criminally banned from Sears by management request. He was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.
Smith appeared before Judge Blackman Tuesday for a probable cause hearing. Judge Blackman did find probable cause to charge Smith, and set bond at $2,000.
Smith is charged with felony theft.
