WILLIFORD, AR (KAIT) – A Williford man was arrested on drug charges Thursday night after he was stopped on a highway for hauling a trailer with a lawn mower.
Vance Null, 51, is charged with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts, dispatch received a call shortly after 10 p.m. about a man driving a lawnmower with no headlights on Highway 63.
A short time later a deputy found Null on Highway 58, driving in the oncoming lane of traffic.
The deputy smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from Null and asked him if he had been smoking the drug, Counts said in a news release.
Null reportedly admitted he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day. He then reached into his pocket, pulled out a baggie of marijuana, and handed it to the deputy, Counts said.
The deputy arrested Null and took him to the Sharp County Jail.
Null is currently free on bond awaiting an appearance in District Court on September 4.
