Car hot-wired, stolen from west Toledo garage while family was home

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Police are lookingfor the person who broke into a west Toledo garage, hot-wired a car, and stoleit.

The owner, who lives onthe 3700 block of Maxwell, say it was an older car that he spent years workingon. As much as he hates to see it gone, the family is also upset because theywere home while the theft occurred.

According to the policereport, someone forced open the locked garage, broke a car window to get intothe locked car, then hot-wired it and took off – all while the family was inthe house and unaware.

The car, a 1984 ChevyCaprice, had a license plate reading 956 YNQ. The owner says he thinks someonehad been watching his house to know that they had the car in the garage.

If anyone sees this car orhas information that could help police, they are asked to call Crime Stopper at419-255-1111.
