Last week, I talked about the State of Arkansas shopping around to build a new 1,000 bed maximum security prison. I asked for your opinion and you had plenty to say.
Sherry said: "NO! I would not want a maximum security prison in our town. Why? Because that would mean the worst of the worst living in our "backyard". w Maximum security or not, there is always the possibility of escape. There is enough threat of break-ins, kidnapping, hostage-taking, and murder as it is. Why add to the chances of upping those possibilities."
Janet Hendrix said "I have worked in a maximum security prison and it is not as bad as projected in the public...the inmates are mainly housed in single unit cells and are only allowed out 1 hr/day...this employment opportunity should not slip through our fingers."
Karen Moss said: "Against. Jonesboro is a wonderful place to raise up children. It would be really sad to alter that by building a prison here. Orange is not the new black." and Mike Campbell says " Bring it to Newport, Arkansas. We already have the prison system in place and need the jobs and another boost to the Jackson economy.
Those are the opinions of some of our viewers. If you would like to comment on this or anything else email us at email@example.com. An open mind and open communication will make this A Better Region 8.
