Police: Arkansas man found dead in Georgia

GORDON COUNTY, GA (KAIT) – Authorities in Georgia believe they have discovered the body of a missing man from Trumann and three people have been arrested in connection to his death.

According to a news release from the Gordon County Sheriff's Office in Georgia, John Wesley Wood, 22, of Calhoun was reported missing in late July. According to the family, Wood was expected to move from Georgia back to Trumann to live with his father.

The family also "reported seeing two suspicious men and a suspicious vehicle at Wood's apartment on July 24th, the last day that Wood was seen. A witness had seen the suspicious men and vehicle, and copied down a license plate number," the report stated.

Police eventually found the body of a man in a heavily wooded area in northwest Gordon County early Sunday morning, the release stated. Police said the body has been sent to the state's crime laboratory, but they have reason to believe the body is that of Wood.

According to the release, Nathan M. Mahan, 29, of Ranger, Georgia is charged with murder, robbery, parole violation and obstructing law enforcement officers. Lelion L. Siskey, 28, of Calhoun, is charged with murder and robbery. Nathan M. Neighbors, 22, was arrested for murder and robbery as well.

A fourth person, Stacie C. Ashworth, 20, of Calhoun, was arrested for giving false information to officers and concealing a death.

The case file will be handed over to the prosecuting attorney's office once the investigation is complete.
