Perrysburg asks Toledo for more information on water situation

Posted: Updated:
PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

This weekend's water crisis affected not just Toledo, but several other area communities which buy their water from the city.

Perrysburg Public Utilities Director Alice Godsey says the city has asked Toledo for more information and better communication should this happen again.

After Mayor Collins asked customers to conserve water because of an unrelated mechanical failure at the plant, Godsey says Perrysburg will suggest residents do so through Saturday. That's when Collins has said the plant should be repaired by then.

Collins also asked residents to conserve water through September, when the algae bloom is expected to decrease in size. Godsey says Perrysburg needs more information before asking residents to do that.

"I'm not prepared right now to ask residents to conserve all the way to September, but if we're convinced that that's really necessary then we'll make that decision down the road," said Godsey.

Godsey says the city has requested a meeting with Toledo leaders to discuss these issues.
