FAYETTEVILLE (ArkansasRazorbacks.com) – On the eve of its first fully-padded practice, Arkansas football continued Wednesday's intensity as the Razorbacks completed their fourth of 24 fall camp practices Thursday evening.
Venue: Outdoor practice fields
Format: Helmets and shells (upper-body padding)
Highlights: Tight end Hunter Henry excited his teammates and onlookers with a diving one handed catch to snag a first down in 11-on-11… Center Luke Charpentier paved the way for running back Korliss Marshall to barrel his way past the Razorback defense… Cornerback Caroll Washington executed key plays for the defense, including an interception… Back-up quarterback Rafe Peavey led the final drive; launching a touchdown pass to end the practice.
Quote of the Day: “We don't have a real veteran group, but we have some talent there and it's about maturing and being consistent. I think that's our emphasis as we move forward in camp, is just to be more consistent.” – Tight ends coach Barry Lunney (@BarryLunneyJr)
Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney (@CoachJimChaney) on the offense's ball security: “Pretty solid so far. Brandon threw an interception yesterday, just missed on an over route and hit him a little bit behind and the DB made a helluva nice play, they're going to do that. I think he's thrown 180-200 balls already with one interception so I'm pleased with that.”
AJ Derby (@AJ_Derby) on the transition to tight end: “I feel really good about everything right now. Everyday I'm trying to get better at blocking, and that's becoming more natural as we go through. The route running and concepts comes down to just knowing the quarterback position, so I feel good about that.”
Kody Walker (@KWalkBeastMode) on the running game this year: “We got three backs that can go the distance at any time. It's great to have that back there and they're working hard. All of us, the running back group, we've taken pride in trying to be the best group on the team. We say that every day, we want to be the best group so we work every day to be that.”
