POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) -

A man accused of firing shots into a home has been arrested in Poplar Bluff.

According to Capt. David Sutton with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, Christopher Gainwell was arrested around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday.

Sutton stated Gainwell was hiding in a home in the 1200-block of Bradley Street. Gainwell attempted to flee the home, but was taken into custody after a brief struggle, Sutton said.

Officers were called to the 300-block of Roxie Drive in Poplar Bluff Aug. 10 in response to shots fired.

On that day, witnesses told officers Gainwell demanded to be let into a house. When the residents refused to let him in, he reportedly grabbed a handgun and fired three shots into the home through a front window.

No injuries were reported in that incident.

Gainwell was charged with resisting arrest along with a weapons offense warrant and two earlier warrants for burglary.

The bond amount for all of the warrants totaled to $200,000 cash-only.
