FERGUSON, MO (NBC) -

The streets in the Missouri community of Ferguson are relatively quiet Monday, but there are still some signs of the unrest from Sunday night where more than 30 people were arrested on charges including assault, burglary and theft.

The violence followed a vigil for an unarmed teen that was fatally shot by police in the St. Louis suburb. Ferguson, Missouri police report 32 arrests mostly for looting at about a dozen stores, including some set on fire.

Michael Brown, police acknowledge, was unarmed. They are giving as many details as they can about of the shooting but that's not many. They say the confrontation began with an assault inside the police cruiser, a struggle for the gun they say was inside the cruiser. One shot was fired inside the police car, and then they say the struggle spilled out into the street.

They say they don't know why the encounter began, they don't know exactly what happened inside that car, and they are still trying to determine all these details.

That has led to a lot of anger and skepticism in this community over the police version of the account.
