TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Troopers with Louisiana State Police pulled over a vehicle Sunday morning in Tangipahoa Parish and discovered approximately 300 pounds of marijuana.

The vehicle was traveling east on I-12 when Troopers pulled the vehicle over near the I-55 junction for a traffic violation.

The driver has been identified as 26-year-old Carlos Davis of Greenwood, MS. Troopers became suspicious of Davis' behavior and requested a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office K-9 to respond to the traffic stop after Davis refused consent to search the vehicle.

Following a positive alert by the TPSO K-9, Troopers' search revealed the presence of approximately 300 lbs. of marijuana in the back seat and rear cargo area of the vehicle.

Davis was arrested and met with Louisiana State Police Detectives to further the investigation. In coordination with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the marijuana was delivered to a residence in Jackson, MS leading to additional arrests.

Davis was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. Investigators estimate the street value of the seized narcotics to be approximately $250,000.
