ASU to set up scholarship in honor of Dick Clay

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Representatives with Arkansas State University are working to set up a scholarship in honor of former KAIT Sports Director Dick Clay.

An account has been created with the Arkansas State Foundation. Dean of the College of Media and Communications Dr. Brad Rawlins said creating a scholarship in honor of the "Dickie Bird" was a natural transition.

“ He's so well known, particularly in Northeast Arkansas, from his catch phrases to his nickname and everything else,” said Rawlins. “[He had] just a great personality and I think it's a great way to remember him, remember his name, and remember his legacy and share that with future students as they are rewarded this scholarship.”

Dr. Rawlins said they need at least $25,000 to endow the scholarship.

If you want to contribute you can send your money to the Arkansas State Foundation and ear mark it as the Dick Clay Scholarship.
