Former Toledo Rocket and Perrysburg High School alumnus TJ Fatinikun has signed as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fatinikun told T Sports on Tuesday that Tampa Bay contacted him just a day after his Arena Football League schedule concluded.

"It's a blessing," Fatinikun said.

The Buccaneers had originally given Fatinikun a workout while the Arena League season was going on, but didn't sign him at the time.

While at Toledo, Fatinikun was injured and missed a significant amount of playing time.

"After I tore my Achilles, everyone wrote me off," he said.

According to Fatinikun, he was playing Linebacker in the Arena League, but the Buccaneers will move him back to Defensive Line – a position he played in college. He could get a chance to play as early as this weekend when Tampa Bay plays the Miami Dolphins.

Fatinikun will also be reunited with fellow northwest Ohio native Eric Page, who plays for Tampa Bay. Fatinikun says the two have remained friends and have hung out throughout the year while Fatinikun was playing in Orlando.
