One man's generosity is helping Marmaduke students

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

Students at Marmaduke High School have some extra help getting to college thanks to the generosity of one man.

Jim Holland met with representatives from the Greene County Community Foundation and Marmaduke Schools for a special presentation Wednesday at the Chateau on the Ridge in Paragould.

He donated over $100,000 to endow a scholarship for a Marmaduke senior, and said it's important to him that he help reach the students that often get left out.

Mr. Holland said, “We need to reach a particular group of people that is primarily the C+, B-, B student.”

Tim Gardner, Marmaduke Superintendent, said he is really excited to be able to get some more money involved in the scholarship and that they've had a lot of success with students who have been awarded the scholarship in the past.

Mr. Holland's only stipulation was the money goes to a student with a grade point average of 2.5 to 2.8.
