A-State Women's Golf announces 2014-15 schedule
JONESBORO (AStateRedWolves.com) – The Arkansas State women's golf team has announced its 2014-15 schedule, which includes its annual home tournament this fall and another in the spring that it will co-host with UALR in Maumelle, Ark, for the first time.
The Red Wolves schedule is split into four fall and six spring tournaments, including the Sun Belt Conference Championships set for April 13-15 in Loxley, Ala., at the Steelwood Country Club.  A-State will begin its 2014-15 campaign Sept. 8-9 at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in Lawrence, Kan., and it will continue three weeks later (Sept. 29-30) at the ORU?Shootout in Tulsa, Okla.
Arkansas State will play two October tournaments, starting with the Lady Red Wolf Classic at Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro and following with a trip to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to compete in the Blue Raider Invitational.  The Red Wolves home tournament is set for Oct. 13-14, and it will close out its fall schedule Oct. 20-21 at Middle Tennessee's tournament at the Old Fort Golf Club.
“I am thrilled to enter my fifth season here at Arkansas State,” said A-State head coach M.J.?Desbiens-Shaw.  “I look forward to a successful year with our new freshman class coming in along with our solid returners.  Our fall schedule will be very competitive, especially starting with the Marilynn Smith Sunflower hosted by the University of Kansas.
“The rest of the fall season will also be very busy, and it will be a great way for our team to show our talents.  We will be hosting our home event October 13-14 at Sage Meadows Country Club.  We will have all 10 players competing in our event, and this will be a great way for our fans to see the depth of our team.  Our players have worked really hard this summer, and I anticipate everyone to be ready to compete as soon as our season starts August 21.”
The spring portion of A-State's schedule begins Feb. 13-15 at the Eagle?Invitational, which is one of two three-day tournaments for the Red Wolves.  The tournament will be hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University and played at the Stoneybrook Golf Course.  The Red Wolves will then compete at the Amelia Island Collegiate in Fernandina Beach, Fla., Feb. 23-24 to close out the month.
A-State continues its spring schedule March 20-21 at the Mountain View Collegiate, which will be co-hosted by Kansas State and Missouri in Tucson, Ariz.  The Red Wolves will act as a co-host for the A-State/UALR Women's Golf Invitational at the Maumelle (Ark.) Country Club March 30-31.
One week prior to the Sun Belt Conference Championships, A-State will play April 6-7 in the Kansas City Shootout hosted by UMKC.
