JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The plan to have kids playing on the Miracle League field and playground in September may not happen. Construction on the field won’t be finished on time.
The park was originally scheduled to be complete in September, but that’s now pushed back to October. “
We originally had that date for September 13th. Because funds were not available and because construction had gotten behind because of the weather and some other things, we did have to postpone that September 13th date." Said Sharron Turman, Jonesboro softball coordinator.
Turman said they hope to have the park complete by their grand opening date of October 25. The park is still in need of financial help. If you would like to donate, you can visit the collector's office at the Jonesboro Municipal Center.
You can also mail a donation to the following address: 3009 Dan Avenue, Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Once finished, the field and playground will be accessible to all children in wheelchairs and walkers. "All these little guys have had to stand at the fence and watch their little brothers and sisters and friends play ball. And we just feel like the city owes these special need people a place to play sports."
