BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A woman who escaped from Baxter County Sheriff's Office custody Saturday turned herself on Sunday afternoon.

According to the sheriff's department, Brandi Vanamberg, 42, was on Highway 126 near Carson Creek in the Whiteville area when a deputy stopped to talk to her. The deputy found out she had outstanding warrants for felony revocation of a suspended sentence and contempt of court.

Vanamberg was arrested and placed in the patrol car. However, that's not the end of the story. She then asked the deputy to get some property she had under placed the bridge over the creek.

When the deputy came back, Vanamberg was gone.

The sheriff's department said they think she was able to roll down the back window and climb out, while she was still in handcuffs.

According to witnesses, she walked through a wooded area then was picked up by a motorcycle and headed north on Highway 126.

After turning herself in Saturday, she is now facing charges for revocation of suspended sentence and misdemeanor contempt of court.

Sheriff's investigators will file an escape from custody charge on Monday.

Vanamberg is currently being held without bond until she appears in court Monday.
