TYRONZA, AR - Two people who allegedly robbed a bank in Marion this afternoon were apprehended less than a half-hour later by police in nearby Tyronza.
According to arresting officer Tony Turner, he was notified shortly after 2 p.m.via police radio by an off-duty firefighter that a vehicle matching the description of one used a few minutes earlier in a bank robbery in Marion was headed toward Tyronza on U.S. 63. Turner says when he spotted the vehicle a short time later, he stopped it, and noticed that a white male passenger in the vehicle matched the description of a suspect in the robbery of the First Community Bank in Marion. Turner says he also noticed a large amount of money tucked inside a toboggan cap inside the vehicle, described as a Jeep Wrangler with Ohio tags. At that time he placed the passenger and a female driver in custody and immediately notified Crittenden County and Marion authorities.
The suspects have since been turned over to Marion authorities.
