CLEMSON, SC (KAIT) - Zac Brooks entered the 2014 season with plenty of upside. The Jonesboro High alum was the number 2 running back on the Clemson depth chart.
Today the school announced that Brooks is out for the season with a foot injury. Head coach Dabo Swinney said the following in a news release: "Zac was having an outstanding camp and was ready for a terrific year. The plan is for Zac to sit out this year due to the injury and come back next year as a red-shirt junior. This is a big loss because he is such a reliable player in all phases of the game. He knows the offense inside and out.”
According to multiple reports, Brooks suffered the injury in practice on Monday. He had 329 total yards and 3 touchdowns in 2013 for the Orange Bowl champions. Clemson enters the season ranked #16 in the nation.
