Mitt Romney in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Asa Hutchinson, the republican nominee for Governor of Arkansas, picked up a high profile endorsement at ASU today.

Former Republican nominee for President, Mitt Romney came to Jonesboro to the Arkansas State University Fowler Center to officially throw his support behind Asa Hutchinson in his race against Democrat Mike Ross.

Wednesday afternoon, Romney cited Hutchinson's plan as his reason for supporting him.

“His plan to help the people of Arkansas, his six point plan is really quite distinctive. So, I decided to come here and make a real push to get as many people as I could to support Asa Hutchinson's candidacy and to think I'm making a small difference, he's making a big difference.”

Hutchinson was grateful for Romney's support.

“I want to thank you for your endorsement and, by the way, I accept your endorsement. I've been a fan of Governor Romney for a long time”

After the interview, Romney and Hutchinson attended a fundraising dinner at the ASU Fowler Center.
