Jonesboro man arrested for pulling machete on another man

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man was arrested for aggravated assault after he pulled a machete on another man who was grieving over the death of his mother, according to a Jonesboro police report.

According to Officer Keri Varner, David Lynn Bowers, 58, of Jonesboro, was charged with aggravated assault and given a $1,500 bond on Wednesday.

According to police, the victim said he was driving down Golf Course Drive when he got a text stating his mother had died. The victim said he pulled over near the intersection of Golf Course and Victoria Watts.

While he was there, the victim told officers that Bowers pulled up behind him and "started blaring his horn."

Varner reported that after the victim pulled forward, Bowers "once again blared his horn."

The police report states the victim got out of his vehicle to confront Bowers. When both men exchanged words, a witness told Varner that Bowers got a machete out of his truck and started moving towards the victim.

When the witness yelled at Bowers, he put the machete back in his truck and drove home.

According to the report, Bowers said the victim verbally threatened him.

No one was hurt.
