MOUNT JULIET, TN (WSMV) -

Four homes in a Mt. Juliet neighborhood were recently hit by stray bullets.

The first incident was reported on May 29 when a bullet went through the window of a home. The homeowner then located the bullet.

Three additional incidents recently occurred and were reported Tuesday.

The homes that were struck are no more than 2,500 feet apart. Police believe the stray bullets are coming from recreational shooting or hunting on nearby property.

Shooting or firing any projectile is prohibited by Mt. Juliet City Code, but it is believed the shots are originating from adjacent properties not within city limits.

Prior to noticing the bullet holes, witnesses said they would hear frequent gunshots between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Thursday, Mt. Juliet police warned area residents about the stray bullet activity and began to knock on doors in the area where shots possibly came from.

Police are encouraging residents to call if they hear loud gunshots near their homes so the locations can be investigated.

The homes struck by stray bullets are located in the 600 block of Belinda Parkway, 1400 block of Hilltop Drive, 100 block of Privateer Lane and 200 block of Sutler Place.

Anyone with any information regarding the stray bullet incidents are encouraged to call the Mt. Juliet Police Department at 615-754-2550.
