HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A 1950s-era yacht formerly owned by American President Gerald Ford is sinking in Ditto Landing.

"Notorious," christened "Serano II" in 1953, has a lot of history surrounding it. Along with with the president, movie star Charlton Heston, who lived on the yacht while filming "Planet of the Apes," and an alleged Chicago mob boss also owned the 83-foot yacht.

According to densionyachtsales.com, the yacht has a dining room table made out of marble and secret passages for the maids. There are even pictures of Charlton Heston hanging on the walls inside.

The manager of Ditto Landing said the cause of the leak hasn't been determined. They have called a company to get the boat out of the water. Once that is complete, they will be able to see why the boat sank in the first place.
