JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - John 3:16 Ministries hosted its largest fundraiser of the year Saturday.
More than 6,000 people filled the ASU Convocation Center for the fourth-annual Community Fest.
"When we lift up the name of Jesus, there's always a big crowd that comes," said director Bryan Tuggle. "The guys have worked real hard and we've had a great response from the community. We're very grateful for Region 8."
A $10 ticket bought a catfish dinner and entry for door prizes, which included a 1960 Thunderbird and a big screen, HD television.
There was also a live auction and live entertainment from John 3:16 residents, their families and more. Big Daddy Weave put on a concert at the end of the event.
Tuggle said the community helped change men's lives today.
"When the men apply the word of God to their lives, they can be freed and actually cured of the addiction of drugs and alcohol," Tuggle said. "Then we put them back into the community where they can be an asset rather than a liability. Many, many people in the Region 8 area have turned their lives around because of Jesus Christ."
With more than 6,000 attendees, John 3:16 Ministries should have raised more than $60,000.
Tuggle said John 3:16 Ministries currently has 105 residents.
