Six teens found with stolen vehicle, gun

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Six teens were found with a stolen vehicle Saturday at an ASU parking garage.

A Jonesboro Police Officer was dispatched to Links Drive around 9:30 a.m. where a man said his 2011 Kia Optima was stolen. According to the police report, the last time the man saw his car was around 11:30 Friday night.

Later Saturday an ASU police officer stopped the stolen vehicle in a parking garage off Caraway Road.

A spent casing and a live9 mmm round was sitting on the center console. None of the people who were in the car admitted to having a gun, and it was not found when they were searched. One teen did say he had a gun but said he threw it out of the car on a gravel road in Bono.

Once one of the teen’s mother arrived at the scene he admitted that he had given the gun to one of his friends and that it was in a backpack. Once the gun was found officers realized it had been stolen in a breaking and entering incident.

There was also cell phones, knives, and beer inside the vehicle.

One minor was charged with theft of vehicle and possession of firearm.

Five other teens were cited for minor in possession of alcohol.
