JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel teamed up with representatives from AARP and other state agencies Monday at St. Bernard's Auditorium.
A panel discussion was held to teach audience members how to safeguard themselves from fraud.
Attorney General Dustin McDaniel said, "Reputable businesses and certainly government agencies will never call you and ask you to give your social security number or your bank account over the telephone.
McDaniel said people should be mindful about data breaches.
"This is not just for seniors. This is for working families and people of all ages to try and ward off criminals, ward off scams and make themselves better prepared to protect themselves from fraud."
He said they've seen data breaches happen with restaurants in large marketing chains, some universities and even public agencies.
